Following the announcement by Fr Joe Caddy about his appointment as Bishop of Cairns

A Note from the Parish Council

Following the announcement by Fr Joe Caddy about his appointment as Bishop of Cairns (where he will be installed on 15 August), the Pastoral and Finance Councils of our parish have decided to establish a Transition Group, with members from both Councils, to help negotiate its transition to a new stage, in dialogue with the archdiocese. Important decisions will have to be made over the next few months. Our community has a rich range of skills and expertise to offer. We have good connections with the local Jesuits. There certainly is a future for our parish community, but it will be different from what we are used to. Our parish may be too small for it to survive with its own resident priest. Some form of association with other parish communities may be needed. We are very grateful for Fr Joe’s continuing concern for our well-being. There will be an opportunity for the community to express our gratitude to him before he leaves us, very likely to be Sun 4 August after the 10am Mass.

The Pastoral Council is delighted to announce that Brigid Walker, a long-standing member of our parish, will fill one of the vacant positions on the Pastoral Council. As a social worker and nurse, Brigid is now semi-retired and keen to contribute to pastoral care within the parish.
